Bergeron, Taylor Earn Final GNAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

2017 May 5

Senior Brooke Bergeron (Lynn, Mass.) and freshman Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) collected two final Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards for Lasell women's lacrosse, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Both recognitions come as a first for the two honorees, as Bergeron earned goalkeeper of the week, while Taylor was tabbed as rookie.

Bergeron backstopped the Lasers to a 2-0 conclusion of the regular season, collecting 17 saves in both games started. The senior opened the week with eight saves in the full 60 minutes of an 18-3 victory against St. Joe's Connecticut, before stopping nine shots in first-half action against Mount Ida.

Taylor combined for 10 points on five goals and five helpers. Against the Blue Jays, Taylor accrued two goals and three assists, before swapping roles with three goals and two helpers in the 19-5 decision over Mount Ida. Taylor ranks third overall and first among her first year classmates in goals and points, with 25 and 35, respectively.

The Lasers completed their 2017 regular season with an overall mark of 10-5 and 7-2 in conference, and locked in the No. 3 seed for the postseason tournament. Lasell will host the Sharks of Simmons College on Wednesday, May 3 in the GNAC quarterfinal, with draw control set for 3:00 p.m.
