Lasell Women's Soccer Downs Saint Joseph's Connecticut on Senior Day

2017 Oct 16

In recognition of graduating seniors Haleigh Butler (Melrose, Mass.), Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.), Casey Meissner (Sandwich, Mass.), and Alexandra Foster (Lincoln, R.I.), the Lasell women's soccer team shut out the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field.

The Lasers dominated the shots column overall, 24-6, igniting the offensive charge in the 26th minute by Sophia DiPlacido (Hudson, Mass.). DiPacido collected a loose ball in the six-yard box, and placed it far post for the 1-0 advantage.

Ten minutes later, Carly Zdanek (Newton, N.J.) scored her third goal in as many games, as she flew by a Blue Jays' defender to put Lasell up 2-0. Both teams were held scoreless until the 70th minute of regulation, as DiPlacido scored her second of the game on an unassisted bid.

LaClair stopped all three shots faced on net, and improves to 8-4 with the win. The senior also recorded her 22nd career shutout, a statistic that ranks first all-time in Lasell women's soccer history.
