2017 Sep 28

The Lasell College women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 victory over non-conference foe Newbury College on Tuesday evening inside the Athletic Center.

The Lasers hop back in the win column at 5-11, while the Nighthawks skid to 1-13.

Lasell needed just 50 minutes to down Newbury, and used a .200 and .227 hitting percentage to take the first two sets 25-7 and 25-9. The Lasers sealed the deal with 25-15 third set victory, and will head to Saratoga Springs for their next contests at the Skidmore Classic.

Freshman Mickayla Shelburn (Waterford, Conn.) led all players on the court with eight kills and a .385 hitting percentage. The rookie also added five digs, next to senior libero Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, Calif.) who hit the floor for eight.

Meredith Eagan (North Andover, Mass.) swung into seven kills with four services aces, a match high, and two blocks for a team-leading 12 points. Kelly Cappitella (East Haddam, Conn.) also registered seven kills on the evening, a career-best for the sophomore.

Katie Schneider (Covina, Calif.) stepped up as the Lasers' setter, and set a career-high 19 assists.
