Students in a Lasell University class, "Action for Social Justice," led a demonstration at a local supermarket to advocate for fresh food donations to local banks and pantries.

Student help has been integral to the success of the Lasell University on-campus dry food pantry, which stocks non-perishable items for the entire community to utilize. The pantry was established in spring 2021 to combat community food insecurity.

The Lasell Alternative Break (LAB) program took students to Boise, Idaho; Houston, Texas; and Blairsville, Georgia this spring. In their small community groups, students connected with important social issues: homelessness, trail conservation, and disaster relief.

Senior Amanda Mitchell led the Lasell College branch of the Empty Bowls Project, a grassroots movement to end hunger, with a fundraiser in early April.

On October 7th, the student-led service group traveled to Holmdel, New Jersey to participate in hurricane relief work with a local non-profit organization. The students participated in work such as demolishing homes ravaged by Hurricane Sandy to painting walls or spackling an office.
